Hilly Hills

I had to try what music works best on hills after our little discussion on Monday. I have to admit … S you were spot on! Somehow I managed 1 hour and 17 minutes today …

Hill running around here is not easy as it says ‘Slow’ wherever I run and that distracts me.

If that does not grab my attention the views will. To the right:

To the left:

Now the question of the day: is this a canon on top of the Martello Tower in the first pic? I don’t know the answer … I might be able to find out though.

No sea

Today something new: a lunch run to my tiny park where I ran 20 minutes for the first time or was it 10 minutes? I don’t remember and I don’t think it was as tiny back then …

Sunny summertime

Isn’t it just great if there is no mist or rain or hail?!

Even birds are back to flying.

Mmmm … spots of soft sand!

And in case you are wondering if the weather is the only thing that lifted my mood during today’s run, checkout my other reason, the playlist:

You probably have to be either a hardcore fallout gamer or a slow runner to appreciate it. Triple points if you are both!

More summer!

Summer still is happening, can you believe it?

And while flies have replaced the hordes of tourists from yesterday, the tide was high and after a quick pebbling session I went up Vico road. It is always nice to admire the hard work the gardeners do for the richest of the rich.

Paradise anyone? There is a house up for sale right now.

5k done for today and hopeful that my evil boss gives me half the day off to enjoy more of this summer.

Summer!

Summer is back in full swing and today I waited patiently for the tide to be low. The colors are postcard like when the sun is high up there and no cloud in sight.

Our friends are doing their usual thing. Happy summer day!

Still doing this running thing

It was a pleasant morning. No chance to catch the sunrise though. Sunrise seems to be before 5, but the tide is lowest around 8 … I must therefore compromise and sleep longer – poor me.

Other than that I can still run which is good news. I also met 4 of my favorite dogs though there was no time to chat and cuddle.

And Killiney beach news of the day: summer has begun as the recent sprouting of the tents shows.

Up and down

Low tide brought me finally a bit of sand:

So much better than pebbling.

Those guys couldn’t care less:

It is insane how high the sun is up around 6is in the morning these days. Not a chance to catch sunrise lately. Maybe if the weather stays as bright I will soon get a chance.

New PR

Ok … I know … quite a title. I did however achieve a new PR as in highest achieved heart rate while running on flat ground. It is 188!

I also ran at a lightening fast pace of 5:34 min/km, for probably a total of 3 seconds before my lungs didn’t want to cooperate anymore.

What’s going on you ask? Well after having learned about my blood test results I had taken it easier when I felt energy or mood lacking. I also increased my intake of sunshine at the appropriate times and stuffed myself with even more different veg and fruit each day. I have now been taking vit D supplements (D3 3.2 k IUs/day if you care).

My doc also told me to speed it up while running from time to time. Sounds like classic 80/20 to me?!

So today I ‘played’ for an hour and had fun running around the track and even more so the rugby fields surrounding it. I felt like having tons of energy. Now I am hoping for a sunny weekend and that I will be able to catch a tiny bit of it. Weather app says t-storms though … might need to uninstall the app … it worked for CNN.

Have a lovely weekend and make sure to not miss the latest episode of Kristian’s adventure reports under https://mdschallenge2017.wordpress.com.
